I'm currently rated 1700 on chess.com with no OTB rating. Should I read this book, or yusopov 9 volume series? Which book will be more effective for increasing my  rating?

There are already many forums giving opinions of the Silman work. ( https://www.chess.com/forum/search?keyword=silman+reassess )

Are you looking at the 4th edition of Reassess? It was completely rewritten.

He also wrote a lot of articles for Chess.com that are still posted in the articles tab.

I haven't seen "Reassess" directly compared with the 9 volume Yusupov series.

Silman is great but Yusupov is literally the greatest book series I've ever read and I'm talking ANY BOOK not just chess lol

I think yusopov series are targeted mainly for attacking and tactical players? I play more kind of positional and slow games, openings like caromkann and queens gambit which doesn't involves much tricks

There's loads of chapters on positional play. I play queen's gambit too and it helped me a lot
