Please all suggestions are good
Slow chess

I want to know how to play a timer that has 90 minutes at the start with 30 seconds added on per move and after 40 moves they add on 30 minutes.
In other words a very long timer. How much time should I spend on the opening middle game or endgame ? Should I play the first few moves fast the rest the same speed ? Any ideas ?

I'm going to start my preparations on becoming a GM next week, so I'm starting to play some slow games now. I think the best approach is to play the opening moves quickly and use a lot of time in the middle game looking for tactics. If you're one or two pawns up in the middle game, then you will have an easy endgame

Help ! How should I use a 90 minute/40 moves +30 minutes + plus 30 seconds/coups.
Well, if you go to Live Chess and create a challenge you can choose "Custom" in the time controls and put 90 minutes with 30 seconds increment. I don't think you can add more time after 40 moves ...
Why not create a 120 minutes + 30 seconds game?

Thanks for the advice (I must admit that I dont have much time so I can't play a game that lasts over 4hours yet) but thanks for the suggestions I'll send the trophys later today

James you know me, I feel you should spend a lot of time on the opening, after the book moves or line you know is good for you. If your are in a piss poor position after the opening, forget it. so spend as much time as you need in the opening. In the middle game always check to see if you candidate move is not a blunder; also check to see if your plan can be improved. Take the end game slow, what good will it do you to lose with gobs of time on your clock?
