I would say that indeed chess can be boring sometimes, but once you start learning and understanding some things it can become interesting. Being said that, it is just a board game so no big deal after all.

if someone said 'chess is a boring game' to my face ,knowing i'm a chess player, then i'd assume they were insulting me based on my interest in the so called 'boring' game . if someone said 'chess is a boring game to me' then they're telling that they'd probably wouldn't like to play chess with me because of the lack of interest they had in the game. also people can't say 'chess is a boring game' as that is bad logic. many people enjoy the game and therefore how can it be boring if many people enjoy it. This logic does not apply to those who said 'chess is a boring game to me' because it's they're stating their personal opinion.
so if someone is just using bad logic then it's fair to say that they're not using their brain because of their bad logic and added with the fact they're intention was to insult. me then they deserve to be called thick as i've done nothing to them

Pfff, stop being so sensitive.
I know it is now a mode worldwide to decide to get offended by anything but seriously stop being a little child. "Oh if someone tells me that chess is a boring game knowing that I am a chess player I would be offended". Well if you are offended because someone does not like one of your hobbies then you seriously need to work a lot on your character.
Some people think plants & nature are boring, I'd say to them the World would be dull without them, it's the difference between just looking, & actually seeing & understanding 
its ok if people say chess is boring, because some people have different interests.
