Magnus claims he got tilted because of a watch.

HOW THE HELL DOES THAT WORK?

How does one cheat with a watch? How would you use it to transmit anything and how in the viscera of Hell would a watch communicate chess notation? How exactly do you tell someone 'Your opponent just blundered - move your rook to D4 and take his queen' via a watch?! Even if you were using only numbers as a code...a watch isn't a phone or a computer.

Magnus used to work for the army, disarming old WWII bombs that they find on building sites in the east end of London, the ticking of the watch puts him off............

GMegasDoux

Ever heard of Dr Manhatten. Magnus must be worried.

"After draws in games 14 and 15, Fischer still had a three-point lead in the World Championship match, and the Spassky side was getting nervous. The Champion was fighting hard but not getting any points. Suspicion arose that Fischer might be using secret weapons: hypnosis, devices planted in the lights or the chairs, and even perhaps assistance from an "IBM" (Russian for "computer" at the time). All this was formally investigated, while Fischer continued to coast."

That wasn't a smart watch and even if it were how do you communicate anything much via a watch?

I'll probably regret asking this but I'm morbidly curious by now.

DesgracadoJunior

dunno bro, maybe some sort of vibration in morse code telling him the coordinates, it's not something impossible to do and no one would notice, there are several ways to cheat using a watch, use your imagination

The watch was bluetoothed to the anal beads?

LMAO

I can't imagine trying to get morse code right in the middle of a chess game. It sounds like cheating would be more trouble than it was worth.

gik-tally

Wait! Isn't pooperwatch already a game?

hermanjohnell

Cheating at that level and when money is at stake at least makes some sense.

With an analog watch?

Magnus used the watch his opponent was wearing who was 2512 elo as an excuse for his losing the game so badly. He didn't accuse his opponent of cheating but he needed to defend his pride. No different than what happened with the Hans Niemann controversy. It may be that Magnus is just getting paranoid.

Western cheaters unlike the east that uses code morse or making rumors to transmit words.. west uses electronic glass of invisible photoelements to transmit figures. This glass can be a watch glass or the glass of something else. This happens because Magnus is a dutch race and dutch people are considered giants. They steal a tempo every 5 move in chessboard. They are growing and are knowing each other better

Thanks. That made everything as clear as mud.
