SPEED CHESS

Hi I just watched a GM game and I was wondering what is the purpose of speed chess and is this something that I should learn to play?

You mean like 1 minute games? Well speed chess if for gm as you said. They play them so that they can play more games in a row.Learning speed chess is not a necessity but if you want to go learn. Speed chess is just there for Gm's who think fast. Hope I answered your question.

It's not just for GMs.  It's for anyone who likes to play chess quickly.

When you've played 1 minute games for a while, 2 minutes games seem to go on for ages
