I just realized the search button on the Square Off app allows you to challenge chess.com users.  I thought the only way to play on chess.com was through the queue/seek.

Seriously!?!?!?!?!?!??! WOW good find man. I didn't we could do that.  I try to play against my friend and always have to get lucky in que to play him. That's awesome.

Grand kingdom is on sale $80. Off $369 free shipping. they just sent the offer think about it basically  $300 for a computer that plays up to 3000 rated games. 20 levels to match your ability. Play on Chess.com, selectable time controls with delay features use the search feature to play a friend there. Moves your opponents piece for you. Resets the pieces after the game . A real over the board experience. Upgradable software that is constantly having features added. Seriously what's to think about, buy one you will like it.

The challenge I accepted showed 10m no increment and I wondered right away how that person was able to propose that since is not an option. LOL

I found the answer for this.  The challenge that you received was from a chess.com player.  I just tested this out, when in the game lobby in the Square Off app we can both send and receive challenges from chess.com users.  So, any time control that a chess.com user can send in a challenge we can play on our board.

Anyways, this is all we need to use the Square Off board with slowchessleague.org.  I’m joining the April Qualifer.

No it’s all through chess.com, the website is to organize players.  The club page explains it better than I could https://www.chess.com/club/slow-chess-league

The April Qualifer is a 45+45 3 round Swiss tournament.  Each week you and your opponent are required to negotiate a time to play during the week and report the score.  Check the Rules/FAQs on the slowchessleague.org website.

Has anyone had any issues with the board? I am wondering how durable it is. Some reviews do point out to early breakage. Anyone?

Dennis_Petersen

I have had mine nine months played it a lot no issues

Had mine since it was first released. Still have it and got another one. I love chess though so i dont have a problem spending money in that regards bc I save money elsewhere. The way I see it is, I love playing OTB chess. The one set i have played probably 300+ games and it is still going. I use and get enough enjoyment out of it to justify the cost. If I ever had an issue with a set I would likely go out and buy another, they are under priced for their value, to me.

Awesome! Thank you!

Hi guys,.

Great thread here. So I have went through the entire thread in the last couple of days, including the troll comments happy.png.

As far as new version goes, the kingdom is already out, and.the grand kingdom 2019 edition will.be released  mid April.  I got the info from SO support chat.

Improvements:

  1. Improved internal mechanics, which facilitates smoother movement of the chess pieces
  2. Superior bearings, to ensure high quality of the chessboard
  3. Optimized for higher battery usage

Do I will order my grand kingdom set at the beginning of May.

As far as discussion SO vs. DGT is concerned, here is my 5 cents, even though I don't own either (yet):

The SO ist Not a toy but more for mainstream. It does move the pieces, which is a big plus, and not only a gimmick. Watch live games on the board w/o having to move the pieces. Wow, nice idea!

The DGT is more of a professional streaming and analysis tool.

As far as playing against opponents online, I would think the SO will be far superior. Just overall experience. It's also cheaper, a d I'm sure my kids will also.love it... Buy whichever you like. It know that the consumer audience is very different for both. DGT is restricted to a few, whereis SO can be used by all.

Excellent comment, Andor, thank you for your input. If you buy SO directly off their website make sure you wait for a promo code to be release. It seems they do one every so often. If you can't find one, I believe JOSEPH10 is still active to save 10% off the purchase price.

Look forward to playing you over the board happy.png

Was just thinking about a possible neat feature for the SO board.  Google assistant or Alexa integration. Wouldn't it be great having the board on a table, looking at the position and.just day "Alexa: knight d5" . Board could then move.your own piece for you  no need to even touch the board.  I'm sure this can't be that hard to implement .just a thought.

That would be pretty awesome

I was really excited about this board but it looks like they don't ship to Australia. Damn!

Does "looks like" mean they actually don't?

Dennis_Petersen

Pay the shipping if that's the case they are worth it

No "Australia" in their pull-down list for Shipping. No option to pay for shipping either.
