Had mine since it was first released. I don't travel with it either but never had a problem with the board. It is a very well engineered, and so much fun to play on. Lol i had to quit going to my local chess club bc i would rather play on Square off than deal with the bad breathe, heavy breathers, piece slammers, clock abusers, and cry baby chess players that take all the enjoyment out of a beautiful game.
Square Off - Chess Set
I like my board as well and really enjoy playing on it. I had a problem early on (back when the Grand Kingdom was being offered with limited edition pieces) but they replaced that board. Customer service was outstanding.
More often it seems that it is people who don;t own them that complain about them!
I#m not saying they are without their foibles, but on the whole I've had a faultless time.
If you mean the Square off boars I think it's a year. their existing offerings are not new, they have been out a couple of years now. They have new models due out this year I believe.
lately I see a lot of these used ones on eBay. That's not a good indicator. Glad I held off buying one. I see some better designed boards will be hitting the market soon.
People are selling their old ones bc they bought a new one with this latest announcement was made
I just can't wait for REGIUM to come out. Looks insane from demos so far and it works with all chess servers ( chesscom, Lichess, fics, ICC ..etc) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARQeNlMMPS8
So it says, but how? I think that is perhaps wishful thinking.
As far. As I understand chess.com supports Dgt board and square off boards, and lichess doesn't support either.
I read in a thread that acid ape is the only thing they will allow to connect. Think it was in the Cerberos(?) board thread?
I guess we will have to wait and see, but I think some of the features listed for this new one are more inspirational than reality
No, I just have a healthy distrust for product claims when they are not even on kickstarter yet. I'm sure they woulds /want/ it to interface with every site but I think the practicalities are that it will not, certainly upon first release if it gets that far.
Oh, looks like a reply got deleted ( someone for some reason bringing the moon landings into this conversation....)
I think this is new, it looks like the Regium board put up a countdown until their Kickstarter starts. https://www.regiumchess.com/index.html
Starts 2/25. If this electromagnetic grid approach works and is cost effective, it will certainly give Squareoff a run for their money
It was mentioned on the previous page on this thread. the demonstration video has been called out as fake by many, including the founder of another well-known chess website.
I love my Square Off set but I've had a problem a few times and I'm curious if others have experienced this. Sometimes when I'm playing someone via the chess.com integration, my move registers on my board, but it doesn't register on Chess.com. As a result, on the Square Off app, it shows that it is their turn and their clock is running, but in reality, it is my clock that is running on Chess.com. Eventually I run out of time on the Chess.com side and I lose. I can see this the case by looking at the game on the chess.com side afterward and I can see that my last move was not registered. I'm going to contact support but was curious if anyone else has experienced this issue?
I can only think the one you saw was defective or the owner had not taken care of it. Never had any problems like you describe at all with mine.
