I don't really mind insects/spiders, but ticks for some reason I find really gross.

I guess it's the idea of their fat little bodies... so fat that their legs can't even reach the ground anymore, full of the host's blood. First time I found some on my dog, ugh, so gross.

And AFAIK they mate like that. The fat female, all fat with blood, will be found by the male, who will also latch on to the host, and as they do their thing they also mate right there. So gross.

Ah, the counter wave of sitcoms starting maybe in the 80s, showing family life like it really is, not like some perpetually pleasant leave it to beaver family that doesn't exist.
