guys, I'm not all that good at chess, but I could've sworn I put an opponent in check, and it said stalemate.

I need an explanation.

Can I see the board state at the end when you got stalemate?

I moved my bishop to c7, thinking it was checkmate. He can't go anywhere after? @R3ked

Checkmate requires that the king is actually "in check". In your screen shot he is not.

If you leave your opponent with no legal move, and he is not "in check" it is stalemate..... a draw.

so had I moved the queen to d7, that would have been check ... mate?

but because my bishop move was NOT a check, it's a stalemate?

again, pretty new, so thanks in advance..
