stalling/cheating

I'm done here, please direct me to the correct place to cancel my membership.. I don't play with people who cheat at games, before leaving, all of my friends will be informed of this guy and his tactics.

Mefistofele74

And full of cheaters here. Especially those who pay do what they want and are immune to reporting.

Ubbe728

Yes, this guy ran the clock down (2x) and put up a vacation sign.. came back both times when most are in bed.. this effectively uses my time allowed. But since he is a premium member, apparently this is ok..  maybe he had to consult the stars for his next move?

Ubbe728

There are other places to play, unfortunately they are not immune to cheating either. I miss sitting across the table of a real chess game.. A man is a man that looks a man in the eyes.. not run and hide until you go to sleep.

waronyou2 stalls the game, although makes a move against another opponent, he has 2 games going..

If your opponent is cheating or whatever he does do, then report him. He will learn that what he does do is wrong.

As I tried to explain to you, I think you don't understand daily games.

In your game, each player is allowed to take up to one day for each move.

Some daily games even allow 14 days for each move.

Plus, there is vacation. Everyone can use vacation now and then.

Some games end up going on for months and years.

Some people play more rapidly but it is not cheating to use the allowed time.

If you end up wanting to cancel, you can get the instructions here: https://support.chess.com/article/269-how-can-i-update-my-membership

This going to get locked for containing the word “cheating” won’t it. Martin_stahl or some other mod is going to come in and immediately lock it……

im calling it

If you can not make a move in 24 hours while playing just 2 games, I highly suspect a cheat. especially winding the time down to nothing.. while he made moves in his second game.. I also suspect the use of a chess engine, ya it happens, but is winning a game like that rewarding.. That's what's wrong in this world. As soon as I let my friends know where I will be playing, and why, ya I'm out of here. May change my name and play blitz here for free.

I expected more from voicing my complaint.

justbefair

I can lock it but I decided not to in the hope that other daily chess players will help me out to explain to Ubbe728 that there is nothing wrong with using some vacation days in a daily game.

I am not talking about someone stalling at the end of the game when they are lost.

I am talking about early on in an even game.

Automatic Timeout Protection

All  premium members enjoy auto-timeout protection, meaning that their vacation will be automatically enabled if they are at risk of losing any of their games on time.

If a premium member has less than 90 minutes left in one of their daily games, their vacation will automatically turned on and their games paused.

The system checks once per hour to see whether games need to be paused for auto-timeout protection, so games will not always be paused at the same time. For example, if the system checks and sees that there are 90 minutes left, the game will be paused. But if there are 91 minutes left when the system checks, it will not pause until it checks again 1 hour later. Then, the game would be paused at 31 minutes.

Yeah, sure he can always wait for 24 hours to make a move. That is what you've both signed up for. As for vacation time, it serves a purpose because in such long games (as it can last for a few months) sometimes a person will go on a holiday or just can't play for a few days unexpectedly. Of course, I think that this vacation time shouldn't be misused to for instance play a move every 4 days instead of every day, but generally the only case where it is considered stalling is probably when someone is losing.

So what he is doing is neither stalling nor cheating. Perhaps daily chess is just not your cup of tea, and I wouldn't blame you, it can be really time consuming, much more time consuming than regular long games. That is why I relatively rarely play daily chess.

Ubbe728

For starters, I do not load myself down with more games than I can possibly play, in fact 2 is rare.. I saw a guy with a pretty good ranking loose maybe 5 games to a time out...

I don't do that. it's not fair. Unless I am mistaken, in real life tournament play, when they adjourned, the player that is due to move, writes said move down and gives it to a judge. I'd assume this is due to the fact heir are people out there, that winning means everything to them..

just as [edited]seems to be doing.  if he can not complete a game, the logical thing is to state his reason, not let the clock wind down, and return in the wee hours of the day, 4-5 hours later to continue.

As far as you not sending me emails as you previously stated, I have them.. so obviously you are asleep at the wheel at times.

It’s not chess.coms fault you blundered
stuartburres1234

who is stalling cheating

Your opponent is from Australia, so your wee hours might not be his wee hours, I hope you've taken that into consideration. happy.png

It is just the way it is with daily games. You've signed up to play 1 move every 24 hours, that game started 7 days ago, and you've both played 7 moves each, so it seems fine. Of course, some people will play multiple moves per day, but that is not guaranteed, and is not mandatory.

Ubbe728

Yes I have, and so apparently has he, as he leaves and comes back and moves in the wee hours,, after he has burned up his 24 hours. 2x.. I have also watched a very good player loose quite a few games where he had timed out. A few people gave him extra time, I don't isn't that what a time clock is for?

I don't cheat playing anything.

And this game was even M1m1cv15

Ubbe728

Now shall we discuss using a chess engine?

Cheating accusations are not allowed here. If you suspect that someone is cheating, you should report him. In any case apart from that, I said all I could on daily games, it is up to you to either accept daily chess rules or not.

If you do, keep playing those games knowing full well that some people will make 1 move per day and that said game can last for 2-3 months for instance.

If you can't accept that, then daily chess is probably not your cup of tea.

justbefair

OK.  Thanks guys. We tried.

/ Locked because cheating discussions/ accusations are not allowed in the main forum.
