Stanley Kubrick 1964

Hi there Bat Girl !
This piece of history is quite interesting ! I didn't even know Kurbric played chess !
Question : How and where do you find these old snippets ? Using the internet ? Most probably and Id like to know if perhaps there is a relation to the popularity of chess over, say 100, years vs the amount of famous chess players at the time ! I'm wondering if there is any relation as I stay in South Africa and Chess support is poor (unless you are still in Junior/High School) . Kubric for example was mightily famous but I doubt his chess love was as recognized around the globe !
Thanking you in advance
Thanks for the new post

Definitely not. I like to post or write about things one can't find on the internet.
I think the popularity of chess is more dependent upon the environment. Since today we live in a global environment, chess is more popular than ever. Back in the pre-internet days when someone just played with friends or had to seek out clubs, chess was pretty isolated except in places were it was highly encouraged, such as the USSR. Chess players have always seemed to take a certain interest in famous people who play the game.
Here's another shot of George C. Scott playing Stanley Kubrick on the same film location:

OK batgirl, this is great, but can you finally illuminate the Jaclyn Smith conundrum? I didn't actually see it myself, but I was told that on Charlie's Angels, she played two Russian GMs at the same time, one as white and one as black, and she just repeated one's moves against the other to attain an even score. I suspect that there's a way the Russians could have thwarted her once they realized what she was doing, am I right?

Stanley Kubrick was a genious! An amazing movie-maker, and an avid chess player (among other talents he had)

An interesting article I just found on the web

Lanzarote, one of the Canary islands off the coast of West Africa administered by Spain, is known for its year-round warm weather, beaches and volcanic landscape.

Are there games between Kubrick and Nabokov in the set of Lolita? I remember a chess journalist saying apparently they never played, which seems strange.
.. More 'movie' picture 'background' info., Re. "Stanley Kubrick"; Than Most people care-to-know ! ..{lol}
