Barring brilliancies, it is considered improper and poor sportsmanship to play until mate in obviously lost positions (though that is always your choice).
If you're like 1000 rated or below though, that's not the case (because there is no such thing as obviously lost positions at that level). Same thing with people in time trouble-- playing on as lone king vs. K+Q w/ 3 seconds on the clock is perfectly logical and generally accepted; playing on as lone king vs K+Q w/ 3 minutes on the clock is kind of frowned upon.
A good comparison is tipping in America. It is perfectly within your right to go to a restaurant and not leave any tip for the waiter. In fact, if your goal is to maximize personal gain, it is logical to not leave a tip. But doing so won't exactly make you any friends and is pretty frowned upon.

I actually applied but I don't have a competitive edge as I can't read another language fluently, and I can only be online during the same number of days as any other normal North American person. And since they recently already added some new mods, justbefair, blitzblunderz, etc, it's expected that I didn't get it
There is this feature in settings which allows you to change your flag… I can be Swedish in three seconds. Nice ad hominems though, I aspire to learn from your adult example. Next time I see somebody I don’t like I will make sure to point out all the intrinsic ironies about said person. Without your example today I would not have been enlightened.
