I had a king in what should have been checkmate with my pawn putting him into check. However, he had a pawn to the direct left of mine and somehow did the diagonal even though my pawn wasn't there it was still captured. What is this and how did it happen? (the pawn on f4 disappearing was my mistake in the diagram)
