hi everybody

Following situation:

Your opponent brings 400 elo´s  more to the scale. A Victory is a dream, but unlikely.

You decide to play a draw. How do you make it?

1. At the class/club levels (non-titled players) , playing for a draw is very likely to backfire. There is no strategy or silver-bullet opening that is going to help you draw, let alone guarantee one.  You may consider "tempting" a boring game by playing dry + symmetric positions but guess what => your 400+ point opponent can play these positions way better than you so statistically,  you are more likely to go wrong before he does and he will destroy you for that mistake.

2. Conversely, if you muddy up the position and make it highly analytical and complicated, you are actually giving your stronger opponent a chance to slip up before you => This has been the recommended approach(by many authors like Simon Webb etc.)  on how to deal with stronger players.

3. Call me crazy, but how about giving it your best and causing so much trouble for your opponent that he offers you a draw? That's more likely to work.
