I am reading Jeremy Silman's The Amateurs Mind now. I really like it. There will be plenty advices and tips we can pick up there. I think it's made for the 1200-1900 area. The following book How To Reassess your chess is for 1400-2100. His Endgame book is devided into chapters, so you doesn't need to read things you doesn't understand yet. Chapters is 0-1000, 1000-1200, 1600-1800 and etc.

The Amateurs Mind is a very famous book. Some loves it and some hates it. It's written woth a touch of humor. He will sett up a position at for example move 20 that he or others has played. He will then ask players at different level like 1000, 1400, 1700 and etc to play further, but they have to speak out their thinking process. It's sometimes funny, but I am sure you will familiarize yourself in their thinking process.
