I have not noticed, but then again, I don't solve a lot of puzzles.
"Suggest theme" in puzzles needs moderating
I think it helps beginner learn the basics.
I mean, I've seem them say things like "knights are the only pieces that can fork"
I think sometimes you forget how bad beginners are ![]()
I don't know the full use of themes, but let's say the site wanted to use puzzles as a learning tool. So a person wants to learn some tactics with the bishop pair, and clicks on puzzles with the theme "bishop pair" which has been collected via crowdsourcing the theme with the "suggest theme" function. If someone has clicked "bishop pair" for "suggest theme" on every puzzle, the person who wants to learn gets a catalog of puzzle examples that have nothing to do with what they're trying to learn. That's unfortunate.
Legit, almost every puzzle has the "passed pawn" theme. It is absurd. There must be a bot doing it because it is super prevalent.

Relatable
Me: ok lets do some passed pawn puzzles
The system: ok here is a mate in 1
I am finding the same. Could chess.com please delete all of the data for the passed pawns theme, and start over? It won’t take long for genuine passed pawn puzzles to be tagged again. Thanks
I’ve noticed this for a while now as well and it’s astounding to see that even a year later no maintenance has been done yet. This is rather sad. I reported it again under ‘site feedback’, maybe it’ll come under the attention of the chess.com team. https://www.chess.com/forum/view/site-feedback/puzzle-themes-have-been-spammed-with-passed-pawns-theme-and-new-themes-dont-take-hold
For some time now Someone has been spamming the suggested themes for puzzles like puzzle rush by (for example) suggesting "passed pawns" on puzzles where passed pawns have nothing to do with the puzzle. It seems like it's either A) someone getting a kick out of vandalizing the suggested themes by putting misleading themes in there, or B) someone who doesn't understand what is meant by the word "theme."
Is there no way to figure out who is continuously doing this and suggest they knock it off? It's annoying at best. At worst, if anyone is looking to try a puzzle about passed pawns, this guy will have suggested pretty much every puzzle with pawns on the board, making it useless to have suggested themes. Does anyone else notice this and find it annoying?
