Suggestion: Ban people who resign on move 1

about 80% of my bughouse games results in a move 1 resignation. I don't know what benefit that gives the person resigning, but how about instabanning for an hour when it happens?

Since most people do it, can someone explain the behaviour????

That would explain an occasional move 1 resignation, however in other variants this never happens. I have literally never seen anyone resign at move 1 in regular chess, or Atomic Chess or any other variant. However in Bughouse it happens in about 60% of games. Therefore I have to assume they are getting some advantage... they don't like the matchup ELO and are trying to maximize their return or something. I can't quite figure out how though.

No, sometimes when I am lightly mousing over this site where play is, without wanting to go into a game and play a game will come up for a time control I do not play or want and I then quickly resign it.

Whenever I want to play some variants like atomic, I literally can't move a piece and I run out of time, not my fault. Nvm I know why my pieces wouldn't move now.

That happens quite often on the other site too. I always figured there is a legitimate reason for it. I certainly don't hold it against anyone for resigning on move one. For example sometimes what happens is I will play 1.e4. Realizing they are now behind in position, tempo, time, and soon material, they just resign. Can't blame 'em.

I report people who abandon games and quit games on move one. There’s a report option for stalling/quitting games. And it’s there for a reason. Some people have legitimate reasons for abandoning games, but for the most part if you report them, that should reduce the number of times it happens. Some people abandon games because they prefer to play one color over another, and some people quit games on move one because they are sandbagging. Not a big deal, just click on their profile pic, select report and then check the stalling/quitting games.

Cheers!

Also sometimes in regular chess I abort before the first move because I picked the wrong time controll (I end up in a bullet game when I want to play rapid).

you can't even resign on move 1

Yes, I just tested it. I started a game and after my first move I had the option to resign (although I did not).

I looked at your recent bughouse games.

Stop making up stupid statistics like "80% of games" it's not, its rare, most of your games are proper games.

Many people might accidentally pick bughouse then not want to play that game so they resign, mayb something came up in real life.

There's no reason to just ban people who resign on move one.

Ok, i checked. 15 out of 50, that's 30%. In other variants it's practically zero. Also hard to report since i can't tell if it's my direct opponent or my partners opponent. They aren't sandbagging at move 1 because the ratings don't change. Maybe that's the change... resigning at move 1 gives you a decrease in ratings, and increases the ratings of your opps, without affecting your partner.
