Taking every piece

Hey Hippy, how you doing? These folks seem to have missed your point, which was when an opponent has a win and decides to decimate you instead of coming in for the kill.  What can I say, brother? Some people are not very nice and we shouldn't invite them to dinner. The person winning can't end the game whenever they want? Sure they can; they can resign. And if they can't end the game, are they winning?

Don't worry about it, just stay away from the idiots. Like the ones here who couldn't grasp your simple point. Take care brother.

Well, yes, exactly. I just don't think there's a need to take every piece possible, that's all.

When I have a winning position, I look for the easiest  way to checkmate my opponent.  Usually, this requires removing some "clutter" from the board.

That's also true.

Boy this is an old thread. Just came across it and struck me.

Taking pieces for the sake of taking pieces, to me just isn’t in the spirit of the game. “Buts that’s me”…

Personally, I think to take a piece (or an exchange) for a clearly thought out plan is the “proper” way to play. But I’m a traditionalist/classical player and don’t play blitz/bullet at least not often.

They're just having fun.. so if you find it irritating then resign those games.

In chess parlance, it is called "Playing with your food" instead of just getting it done.

Here is an example of Chess.com using it!
