The reason why I'm not a premium member is that this site sucks.
But you have a turnip next to your name.
What a fail!
Maybe this is a place where a sarcasm font would have been useful for corpsporc.

that's the irish system, corrijean
I alway thought of the Irish system as being more like this:
I dont pay for a premium membership because i can get for free on other websites what chess.com offers.
Respect is not a one way street. Girls should respect men too. We should all respect each other. I have a kid too by the way.
Freudian slip.
You used girls for women and men for men. Illustrating your subconscious attitude towards both parties.

looks like one of the better irish schools (possibly private)
God bless the kids
I was surprised at the percentage of schools that are religious in Ireland. Here most schools are secular.
How did this go from being a post about premium membership to questioning the education system of Ireland?

No I used it consciuosly because a previous user had posted a picture of a boy with the slogan "respect women", and I pointed out that respect is a two way street, both across genders and across generations.
I see. Thanks for the clarification.

I wasn't questioning. I was making an observation.
Religious schools make sense for a largely homogenous society. They probably reflect the beliefs of most citizens.
Secular schools make sense for the US because of our religious diversity.
Well, there is no article in the UN Charter of Human Rights that stipulates that every human being is entitled to having 3 chess coaches, as far as I know. It may be that his brother is a strong / talented player who is thought to be deserving of such privileges. Then again, the whole story is probably way off.
I am sorry, but the story isn`t way off, and you are right about my brother, he really is talented player, and I think he deserves such privileges, but i also think I deserve a little bit, only 10% like he has and i would be happy. When he drew one 2650 GM all started with him, thats when i was left aside.
I would discuss the issue with your parents as calmly as possible Ivan. They have a duty to help all their children as much as they can, regardless of talent.

I've been to Essex, though it was quite a few years ago.

Cool :)
Man, that girl is obnoxious. You'd think she'd feel at least a little bad about having her mom slave away for her.
I know ... I made a comment on it saying I would slap her then the parents for allowing this to happen
As soon as I start to LIKE playing chess again I might become a premium member.
So I just lurk around read post some stuff, make comments here and there, block some jerks and read many blogs.
I thought of just sending a donation to Erik but I bought 12 chess complete chess set instead. I am teaching 23 kids to play chess at a school. It is free and I don't get paid.
Maybe I will leave something in my will to chess.com and have them start a scholarship program, "The Denver Scholarship" for young kids up to 14 years old that can't pay.
Hmmm . . .
That's a good idea, the unprivileged kids would love that!
I joined this thread late so I'm actually going to post about the original topic!
I am retired and on a fixed income, and I live in a very expensive place (Honolulu). So I have to watch what I spend--- very carefully.
I gave up several paid memberships on other sites and kept "free" options. I had an ICC membership and gave that up, switching to FICS.
I did pay for chess.com. So I'm a little off-topic, but my point is that due to financial limitations I play for free nearly everywhere except here. But I pay here because there is a lot of value. The "live" play replaces ICC to enough of an extent to satisfy me, especially now with the live tournaments. The videos here maybe don't match ICC yet but are pretty good, and so on.
So I pay for chess.com but not for anything else. It's all about money, and obtaining maximum value on a limited budget.
The reason why I'm not a premium member is that this site sucks.
