I have had my fair share of opponents running clocks down, going on vacation etc. I thought of a possible solution.
There is still vacation time, and allotted amounts as is already in place. However the most you can use in any one game or tournament is 2 weeks.
There is also another feature called TERMINATE. This would be a once a year exception that would terminate ALL current games without hurting anyones rankings (or maybe not your own, but giving the opponent the winners "points"). The catch would be that if you used the terminate feature, you can't play ANY games for a set period of time (1 or 2 months). The waiting period would be to prevent people from thinking "I'm losing in almost all of my 50 games...let me terminate them." Because, if you think about it, is a dozen losses really worth two months of total chess.com ineligibility?
A good example of this feature is someone going off to summer camp for 4-8 weeks. Vacation time already probably won't last your entire camp stay, and most camps don't allow phones. Resigning games affects rankings, but if you could use your yearly termination, you won't take the hit. You'd be off at camp while you served your "ineligibility period". When you come back, you won't have to worry about preexisting games, and you can decide if you want to start new ones at your discretion.
What do you all think about this idea??
