I think what you might be missing is that this is a satirical thread poking fun at what is pleasing to the masses and what topics inspire people to post in a forum.

Satires can be hard to understand... Specially if the one trying to understand isn't as smart as the regular 5 year old chimp

Actually, now the best thread ever is

... because of the image Sakura made of me as a space demon. You have to see it.

If you're really stuck, jump in and correct someone's grammar.  Combine with 2 for added effect.

Observe...

"You're thread"!! "You're post"!! You're a dumbass more like!!11

I have a handbag that keeps me warm when it's cold.  I call it a coat.

A few things:

  • For numbers ten or less you should spell the number -- i.e. "two" not "2".
  • "Observe" should have been followed with a colon as opposed to elipses.
  • Punctuation in this context should have been inside the quotes, and in one case you've omitted the quotes altogether.
  • Finally, I think that the two sentences at the end of your thread should really have been one and that the period should actually have been a semi-colon.

That's all.

I think what you might be missing is that this is a satirical post poking fun at what morons cannot understand. So considering there is obviously something you dont get, well.. i let the masses take their own conclusions about you, mister mc donald eater ;)

I think what YOU be missing is that before you can call people morons you have to earn that right... And the kind of posts you write make nothing to validate the hypothesis that you are even remotely smart

I disagree on all points.

1. I was picking number '2' from a list where it was given as such.  saying "two" would have made no sense.  Combine with two what?

2. A colon would have been inappropriate, as I wasn't trying to direct the reader, but insert a pause.  A colon doesn't insert a pause.  Had I not been writing casually however, a colon would have been used, but then I wouldnt have said "Observe" either, or left the line spaces.  It was clearly informal structure.

3.  Punctuation here should not be inside the quotes as it would be in speech, for example "Ouch!" exclaimed TheGrobe.  Here, it is a quote, and then a reaction to the quote.  The quotes are omitted in the final case as it isn't a quote.

4.  There's nothing wrong with it as it is.  Maybe if i had said "it's a coat" instead, then both would possibly be correct.  However, I didnt want to link the sentences as I wanted to withold the details of my 'handbag' from the initial sentence.

5. Tongue out

Real, if that is your real name, I notice you aren't denying it...

thanks tiago. some great tips there, i will put them into action and see if they work lol

At a minimum, you have to concede that the second sentence has no subject.

Oh, and I forgot the ad-hominem attack in my initial post (per your suggestion to combine with item two).  So just for the sake of completeness:  Jerk.

sstteevveenn

"I call it a coat."

Subject verb Object

"Oh, and I forgot the ad-hominem attack in my initial post (per your suggestion to combine with item two).  So just for the sake of completeness:  Jerk."

lol, I knew there was something missing, but couldn't quite put my finger on it.

This thread-making is definitely fun, but is it a sport?  I think if you make games like thread-making a sport then, you have to include things like chess, and scrabble, so I think thread-making is not a sport.
Rael

Why is it that women can't post in threads as good as men?

/oh, and all of you guys can die in a fire

TheGrobe

Let me restate:  "It" is an unprecursed pronoun and as a result is ambiguous.

Damn it, I'm right that it's wrong, I was just wrong about how it isn't right.

sstteevveenn

It is precursed by the preceeding sentence.  It is no more ambiguous than either him or her would be in an analagous sentence.  Context is all important.
