Many people have had them in their games and they come here for an explanation. Are they secretly brilliant?

No one can say.

We often can't even figure out why the moves are deemed brilliant.

Chess.com hasn't ever explained how the moves are judged.

You can review their tales.

A brilliant move is one that the engine didn't realize when they were analyzing, and they only realized it was a really good move when it was played. Basically, if you played a brilliant move, you just outsmarted Stockfish. grin.png

A best move is one that Stockfish already saw before you played it
