The Egotistical and Abusive Online Chess Player.

1. Why does status matter so much on Chess.com?
2. Why do higher rated players continually mock and abuse lower rated members instead of encouraging them?
3. Why are people so nasty and destructive when they hide behind an avatar?

Abuse seems pretty random to me and independent of rating. Generally,  I even think the low rated players tend to be more abusive but I don't keep track scientifically. The higher rated players usually just look at the position and skip the trash talk....may be one of the reasons they are higher rated???

Disable chatting and play your game...i don't focus on stupid tricks.
