Chess has a calming effect for me (except when I blunder 😆). If I'm playing a 30 minute game I'm thinking of nothing else, it's good for my mental wellbeing I think.

Totally agree with you. it's a good idea to give your mind a break every now and then.

@Optimissed    If a there is                                                                                                                                 "No experimentation is necessary because the answer can't be otherwise."                                  Then how can we improve? If Nelson did not experiment in the battle of Trafalgar, then what would have been the outcome. If the same attention to all movements are given the same treatment, then there is no progression at all. You may be a very accomplished player, like with any professional sport, a player does not want to EXPERIMENT will become stylized. Take painting for instance, here a technique can be established and the only application the artist need concern themself with is the correct use of this technique. I have played many sports, though Karate was my favorite, 10 years of training and I found they who did not experiment became easy work for the higher ranks. A STYLIZED technique is PREDICTABLE  and will soon become a weakness.

I hope we can play one another, for I have only been playing seriously for two months, I am always keen to play anyone that is better than me.

The 2 main problems chess can give in life I have found for myself is 1 if you do too much chess then you neglect other more important parts of your life like job education or housework and 2 I have found if my chess results are sometimes very poor then it can make me angry mentally and sometimes I have done or said mildly bad things to other people because of this either intentionally or mostly unintentionally so I should be more aware of this occurrance and practice better self control at times when my chess results are poor.
