There is nothing funny about chess!
Although I'd probably disagree with your ex-wife Mateologist, I can see why she's your ex.
lol
Well Spartanemesis getting married to her, let me put this in chess terms. ... BLUNDER ??????????????????????!!!!!!!!!
Considering it's all in your past, that gave me a good laugh. It reminds me of an ex, fortunately I didn't marry her.
One of the key reasons to play chess is the game trains you to not care what anyone thinks about anything. Chess allows a person to get to the core of what is important to them. This is important in today's so called society which forces domestication on its members. People are more or less slaves in modern society, prisoners. Do people have true freedom? They do not. Everything is at cost and many things are with no benefit. People choose to exploit others and manipulate them. Chess cuts through all the nonsense seen as acceptable and tolerable. Most comedians are part of the general populace of zombies walking around and are paid by the majority and this is why they survive, because the majority walking around are and always will be idiots. Consider the comedians to be court jesters. I wouldnt want most people to consider chess to be something they would enjoy doing, because I consider most people I meet to be horrible and at best, annoying.

I couldn't agree more!
There's plenty funny about chess. I checked out some of the OP's games and I laughed like a drain.
(j/k)
There's plenty of funny chessplayers. All the people who thought the original post in this thread was serious are hilarious.
People who know the rules tends to move almost randomly, some starts the game with 1.h4 or opposite 1.a4 with the idea to bring out the rook into the central files. I bet i'm not the only one experienced this opening tendency on non chess players (house usage).
To be fair you don't need to be a nerd to be lost in a paradigm. Some paradigms are simply accepted because they are common regardless of their merits. While I wholeheartedly disagree with the negative remarks about society as a whole I do believe that people should be more open-minded.

thats exactly how i played chess the first times.
And this once again proves that 99% of chess players lack a sense of humor and an understanding of sarcasm.
Yeah, as usual threads like these kinda seem reminiscent of this:

Agreed 100%!
this is pretty funny:
Fischer plays like a machine, and in fact he is essentially a machine. But I am a man! A computer has never yet won against a grandmaster. Therefore I am confident of success. - (before losing his Candidates' match 6-0) - Mark Taimanov

LOL, better welcome Taimanov to the hall of shame xD
