This is one of the most beautiful blunders I have EVER seen....try to figure out WHY it is a blunder

Rb8 krushes black. He is aiming for g8 where the queen can come in and attack the king

Rb8 krushes black. He is aiming for g8 where the queen can come in and attack the king

1.f4!{ threats mate with Qg4+ via Rb8 and ....Qc8 and Rxc8 mate} 1... gxf3 2.h4 mate is unstoppable because of Qg4+, Rc8+ and you soon mate.

I know it but won't say it. I saw the idea but picked the wrong order, initially. That will make sense to someone who knows the winning idea.

Is there a mate with h4, gxh3 e.p., f4? I don't know whether move order is relevant there, and I can't see a noticeable difference between pushing the h or f pawn first.
The point is that either Qg5 or Qxf7 mate next move (Qxf7 might take a few moves, but still.)

I could not find it, used cpu so ill not mention it here.
Yes do NOT use the engine...it is a beautiful move and following move that white has that WINS. ANYTHING else is practically a draw.

The beauty of this puzzle is that MOVE ORDER MATTERS. If you play h4, BLACK wins...checkmate is being threatened on g2, after gxh3. A beginner might make this mistake.
f4 !!!!! is the CORRECT starting move, then after gxf3, h4 will force mate for white.
Yureesystem and IM pfren got the answer correct. It is a good puzzle for the advanced beginner.

INCORRECT!....I play Qf3...threatening a perpetual check draw. If you check me on g8, I just block with my rook with Rg7. Is this amateur hour?!?!?! No offense to you dude, but you have a rating of 1000 in rapid, 800 in blitz, and 700 in bullet WITH...WITH MANYYYY games. I am rated 1800, playing a very strong player.
Whay the heck is this nonsense about the guy's rating? Yes, he had the incorrect move, but you are bragging about your rating at the same time you blunder into a forced mate in 3? Do you not see the irony?
Actually, my opponent played h4 (under time pressure) and he was very sad when he lost.

I will have to go back and look to be sure, but I am pretty sure this position was a problem in Polgar's "Chess" book.
It is a position that occurred in my game.....look at the second to last game I played....My opponent under time pressure blew the game and played h4 (wrong move order).......has to be f4 and then h4.

After 1f4 and 2h4 the only thing black can do is QC5+ and sac queen to avoid Qg5 #
That is correct, sir. I think it is an instructive puzzle for the advanced beginner. My opponent blew the win under time pressure and played h4 FIRST, rather than f4 first. You understand that f4 needs to be played first right? Otherwise, black wins with a checkmate threatened on g2 .....Again, under time pressure he played the wrong move order and lost. And he was a strong player.

After 1f4. gxf4(forced) and 2h4 the only thing black can do is QC5+ (forced) and sac queen to avoid Qg5 #. The black queen is lost....
That is correct.....but make sure you note that MOVE ORDER MATTERS. If h4 is played first, Black wins. F4 MUST be played first, and then h4
Good Job!
