Is worse than Facebook. There is nothing wrong with my internet connection.

Troof.

I am residing in the Netherlands. The speed of chess.com (and Facebook) is ok imo. No problem whatsoever. What's yours?

Ziggy_Zugzwang

I've never had any problems.

Monie49

no problem here

Ziryab

The problem is intermittent and rare. Comcast (my ISP) was likely the culprit, although other websites loaded fine. After a long wait for a blitz game, I received a message that my internet connection was too slow to be paired.

I upgraded to AOL. They sent me a CD in the mail yesterday. So, now I can surpass Facebook and Twitter.

That's a downgrade.

James, my lag is often insane, and I have the biggest mbps package offered by Comcast. Additionally, I have no issue streaming hi-information content or downloading massive files. I think that says something about the site.

LoekBergman

Or it might say something about the underlying cables in combination with some neighbours. We have glass fiber here. Even if my neighbour is downloading films, it has no influence on the speed of my connection. (It is strange on this site however that only the American English spelling is considered correct.)

Considering these States United whipped the tails of the Brits in the Revolution and 1812, American English is the exclusive correct variant of spelling. History has endowed the victors that right. Pretty sure it was even in both peace treaties, too.

Preach!

Hey, I was born in 1957. Both the Internet and ATM cards are miracles to me. No more traveler's checks or cash when I travel. I have friends all over the world and we can play chess without leaving our homes. I haven't really had issues with speed on this site, but, then, I don't play blitz where a glitch, I suppose, could cost you a game.

I do know if you are free, then at least some of the video ads arent supported on Firefox....and yes I have the latest Firefox updates. Sometimes it lags for a minute or so....so dont play blitz if you are on free status...or try another browser.

That is an amazing perspective for me. I don't think wars and peace treaties are valid arguments in any debate outside their restricted realm - and even there are they in my opinion not very strong.

I live in the Netherlands. In the northern part of Belgium they speak Dutch too. Both languages are the same, although they differ from one another. If I would write a spell checker for Dutch, I would accept all Dutch words unique for the Belgian variation of Dutch.

I don't know about server locations, but it seems Americans have more lag than the rest of us, but then again there are more Americans, so I'm not sure percentage wise.

Telecom providers are definitely a factor.

Could be all that High Frequency Trading?

Update / try different browser.

Maybe it's our net non-neutrality?

Um. In the War of 1812, our only real victory was after the war ended.
