This site has a bunch of members that don't rematch.

"Cowards" you say? Or perhaps they have perfectly good reasons for not having a rematch. I can think of lots of such good reasons. Can you think of any?

FischerIsBae

I never rematch, win or lose. I like to play as many different people as possible.

That is one of the main reasons I normally don't do rematches. I like the variety of different players as I learn more that way.

The people complaining about rematches are usually below a certain level. There is a clue about their continuing  lowly status in this regard: They are emotionally over engaged, like a poker player who wants to play every hand to be part of the action. The flaw is not  with the other player, but seeing a board game as some sort of rite of passage or benchmark of manhood.

ziggy, I cant believe you have stooped so low as to pipe this malarkey, in this inane thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This place shot down the NFL thread but let threads as this flourish!!!!!!!   Somebody please lock up this rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ed1975

Yeah, because NFL is all about chess happy.png This at least has something to do with it.

Dear sir, this thread is sooooooo ridiculous and will never go anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

What I don't understand is why players get so angry about refusal of a rematch request. Its just their frustration at losing a close game and then their re-match request being turned down and thus they didn't get their 'revenge'.  Its insane really.

This site has a bunch of cowards that don't have the guts to rematch people. This site should have a mandatory one-game rematch. Then you'd see a lot of these cowards leave this site. Especially in blitz chess. They win by one second and are too scared to rematch. Pathetic.

Just say to them you love chess. This should guarantee you a rematch most of the time.

Why should it be best of three?

In tournaments it's best of 1, often. I'd rather not be spoon fed but get an experience of what it would be like if I was in a tournament.

Who becomes world champion can depend on one second win or a lucky move. If you allowed yourself to be one second slower, work on getting two seconds faster. If you had a mouse slip, work on your mouse control. If you didn't see something but had otherwise won the game, then you didn't deserve the win. Learn to see EVERYTHING.

Look over your game to see what went wrong. Do it immediately after. That will perhaps not quince your thirst for vengeance, it may not improve your rating right now. But it will help you in the future, and who knows, in that one game in the tournament it might be YOU winning by 1 second because you chose to learn from mistakes rather then show someone who beat you that you aren't as bad as they thought.

That would be another reason for me to deny his request.  I can't stand people who love chess!

Id say I get more rematch requests when I lose, rather than when I win.

Not too many with a draw.

You know you are going to get a request from some 1000 rated punk who is sloppy attacks from the getgo and then doesnt resign until mate in 1.

When I played blitz, I played one, then found another opponent, regardless if I won or lost.  I don't believe I fall into the category of "coward" - I just like to play many different people.  It's everyone's prerogative if they want to play multiple games or not.

If YOU win, and they don't want to play a second game, do you still get TICKED???  I'm guessing not.  I'm guessing its only when you lose and are angry, and take a board game personally.  Don't do that.  It's only a board game.

Only a board game??!!

Only a board game ??!!

Love the post using the baby picture. There sure are a lot of tears being shed here for losses. Jeesh. Move on! I don't want to play the same person over and over unless they are a friend, we've had a good conversation in chat or they might want to work on an opening I am interested in learning. Sometimes I just don't have the time and managed to squeeze a game in before moving on to other things in my life, like hiking in the wilderness, spending time with my love, buying groceries, seeing a movie, etc.
