Are those things in your life in order of priority? #Freudian

When I lose, I sometimes rematch to see if I can win the next game. If I win, I don't care either way, if he want's a rematch, I keep playing until he's satisfied. If I keep winning, it's more points, and if I keep losing I keep hoping to get a draw/win in the next game. So it's a win win.

I say this site shouldn't make aborting constantly so easy, but MANDATORY rematch? Come on, a little excessive. What if the person has to go or doesn't have time for the time control of another game? Just play anyone and have fun! End of story!

What bothers me is when people want a rematch after they WIN. That's some serious ego!

EndgameEnthusiast2357

No, that could mean they think you were a good player and it was a challenge so they want to play again!

RhythmOfTheKnight0021

I grant rematches unless I have to go or I am tired.

It is an un-ranked list. Freud was a cocaine abuser (He wrote about it in "The Interpretation of Dreams") who ignored child sexual abuse symptoms in his patients and made some crackpot theories to explain away that abuse. Freudian therapists are going the way of the Dodo. I use cognitive-behavioral methods, some Motivational Interviewing techniques and other therapeutic techniques that are supported by research.

Thanks, Teddy! (Bully has such a negative meaning these days)

Is noob silver better that a regular noob? or worse?

MtTabor

The loser (and it's almost always the loser, isn't it?) has a choice: click "New Game" or click "Rematch". Those with easily bruised egos, and a disproportionate sense of their own self-righteous "honor", can't seem to hit "Rematch" fast enough.

That's too much like begging.

Be strong, hit "New Game"

I'll bet, if I kept looking, I could find at least one hundred threads on this subject.

Nobody would take that bet.

There should be rules that players under 40 should have their QN removed before the game starts against older people like me who think a little more slowly.  They should also be required to play Black.  Otherwise they are surely "cowards," right?  wink.png

In one of these stupid rematch threads (maybe this one), someone called on chess.com to please remove the rematch request button. I recommended instead that the site keep the button but change its function. When pressed, it would immediately close the user's account.

To all you rematch whiners: I'll tell you why I reject your rematch requests. It's not because I'm afraid to play you again. No, blundering your queen in the first game didn't intimidate me. In fact, I figured you would find a way to blunder Her Majesty again in the second game. It's not because someone is at the door or I'm late for a meeting. And it's not because Publishers Clearing House is on the phone and it turns out I really was already a winner. No, it's not because of any of those ordinary things that interfere with chess. Why do I reject your request then?

First, I know that it's not fair to reject a rematch request. I know that when I agreed to play a game with you, I was morally obligated to continue playing game after game until you somehow evened the score. But knowing that just makes rejecting your request all the more satisfying. I reject your rematch request because I don't like you. However, I appreciate knowing how much it bothers you. Thanks.

Awesome comment, good job. Me: I just like to play lots of different people.

I won't say just this site, but EVERY site, and....should be extrapolated to the world at large (not just chess players). You are describing humans in general.

Lower your standards, otherwise you'll be miserable. wink.png

This is such a stupid post, no one owes you any game, what if they are just done playing chess? Maybe they just think you aren't good enough to play them after you lost.

UltraInfantile

OP, you need to get a life. Why are you getting butthurt over losing in 3+0 blitz on chess.com? No one owes you a game. Also, your blitz rating is only 800 after 6000 games. You really shouldn't be talking.

Maybe try okay unrated a bit more. People will accept rematches a lot more on unrated.

There is some merit that games would be fairer if each person were to play two games, playing both the White and Black pieces once. Yes, it may feel like a hit and run if your opponent won, the game was very close and they do not accept another challenge. There is also the aspect that maybe the winner realized they won by the skin of their teeth and feel they don't want to play again in case of a loss. Anyway, until the site allows a '2 game challenge', this is what you have. We are all fortunate to have such a platform available. First world problems. Just keep playing.
