Good point about the change in the value of money Ivandh. Back around 1971 I could have bought a brand new VW Beetle for around $ 2250 dollars. Today the most basic VW ( a 2 door Golf ) would probably cost me just a bit over $ 18,000 dollars, kinda scary .
Thread Resurrections

Back in '71 the price of gold was 40.62, now is at 1301.60.
32.5 times 40 equals 1300, 32.5 times 2250 gets us to 73125.

some of it is relative. i made $4/hour my first taxpaying job.
some is the key word. minimum wage and workers salaries have stagnated while prices and ceo salaries have risen exponentially. throw in cost of college in the u.s., also.

--- Mind you the other week I could have bought a real " Fun Machine ". A couple of hours drive from here someone was trying to sell a 1967 Rolls-Royce 4 door sedan for just $ 10,900 dollars, not bad. They said that it was still in good running condition but it did need a paint job. I don't have a garage here so I had to pass on a chance at a Rolls, so sad lol.
I shall ressurect this thread!
--- Good idea !
--- Hey where did he go ? lol
Thanks for the post AlCzervik. It looks like he just came back, so we will see how long he lasts this time lol.
Ben Franklin, who should know a thing or two about money being featured on the $100 bill, said that the first hundred is a lot harder to make than the second hundred. I don't know how much that is after 250 years of inflation, but I sure hope I get to it so that I can get my easy money.
