Yeah, my positional understanding is terrible as well. So are my tactics.
I think that anyone below 2200 or is untitled is just pretty bad in an objective sense.
It's a tough road to go up, but basically you just have to study very hard to know these things.
I think it would be nice to have Positional Puzzles here at chess.com similar to the Tactics we have, along with maybe some Opening Puzzles.
Any who, I've done about 1,200 tactic puzzles here with a rating of a bit over 2200 and have seen a great improvement in my games assessing tactical situations. But my main problem now (aside from the opening) is Positional Chess.
I know the basic pawn types, minor piece values, posts, Silman's Reassess your chess sort, but I still feel like my Positional Chess is horrible since I seem to lose often in cases where tactics doesn't exist.
Should I may be do some Positional Puzzles (can you suggest a book or website?) or should I just study more?
Another problem I seem to face is Pawn Structure (as a whole). Some advice would be appreciate here as well.
