it's hard to say, because you have to base play on their opening. i like ruy lopez and tarrasch, personally.

White peace-lover trying to become a black man?
I suppose it's better to be a member of a stigmatized minority than a hippy.
Oops! Same thing.

black must play for winning, not equalizing.
YOU must decide the opening when black otherwise white will play with you like a toy.dont just play nc6 when he plays nf3.play nf6(russian game),play d6(philidor).YOU must decide the opening when black.
Judge,
of course black should play to win. First black must equalize! he plays second whatever opening he chooses and is therefore playing catch-up. If one attacks (naively) from an inferior position, one is doomed to failure (unless your opponent is a muppet).

not equalize.
black has an advantage.advantage of knowing what to do.think of it like this:two armies hiding in their trenches.first one to attack the enemy trench has the bigger chance to be defeated.white does not know what to do.so,black is equal already.
Try not to end up having to defend your position all the time just because white plays a certain opening.

Judge,
my 34 years of play, and nearly 1000 point rating difference obviously count for nothing, I bend my knee to a lowly rated schoolboy: Yes black has the avantage.
There is nothing anyone could teach you about chess.
White gets the opening tempo... that is HUGE. The ability to 'react' isn't a good thing! All that means is that black has to start the game on 'defence' ... of course, coming out of 90+% of the openings black has already equalized and I'm sure it's possible to equalize in every opening (it would have to be if our theory of chess being a draw is true). Nonetheless, black is NOT better than white in chess and an argument that it may be is entirely naive. Now, to be fair, I score about the same with white and black and I'm sure most people do; the white advantage is VERY minor and some people have become 'experts' in certain black defenses, thereby making them actually 'better' with the black pieces.
Either way, there is no real argument over objectivity, just personal preference which really shouldn't be presented as fact.

Hello
I know people that prefer black pieces. Recently I observed book from Andreas Adorjan - Black is still OK. http://www.chessville.com/reviews/BlackisstillOK.htm
I'm mainly a White piece lover, but I know to be a good Chess player you need to be atleast decent with both colors. Now my game with Black has improved, yet I'm still uncomfortable with Black. So, yeah, any tips, and what would you say would be the easiest, yet effective opening for Black?
