See it’s a good selection, but I’ve always had a problem putting Karpov in my top 5 as Kasparov was just demonstrably stronger imo…. But it’s still a good shout

He did give Kasparov a run for his money at times. They played a stupidly long match which lasted 5 months. 48 games in total, before they called the match off with Karpov leading 5 to 3 and 40 draws. I totally agree about Kasparov though. Even Carlsen thinks he's the greatest of all time. I wonder if deep inside Carlsen believes it though. They gave him a lie detector test and when he said Kasparov was the greatest the machine said he was LYING!! 🤣

Haha yes! Kasparov and Karpov were some of the best chess rivals in history, which is why it feels wrong putting them both in the list...

Pity Fischer left chess and never played Karpov. Both incredible chess geniuses, but mentally they were complete polar opposites.
