Anyone know of any top native american chess players? I'm not talking abount indian like people who are from india im talking about native americans from canada / united states(some people get them confused). My daughter in-law whos mom recently passed away recently who taught her (and me) how to play chess and she won her first chess tournament through her school, and maybe it would be added motivation if she became the first titlted native american female or something of the sorts. I just really want her to continue to pursue chess if she enjoys it, I know her mom would've been so proud of her if she was able to see her win her chess tournament. Shes currently 12.

I found an article in Chess Life entitled "Chess and the Blackfeet Nation" in the March 2015 magazine.

This is the link to the Chess Life archive for that magazine.

It doesn't list masters but I though you might find it of interest.

As a Hopie from the Navajo tribe I'm glad to see other Navajo tribes and people to play chess and hear out my voice "We Are the First People To walk On America Soil before anyone."

I just felt like it was discouraging of one user saying there probably isn't any native American champions. In our belief system here in the west we do not see death even remotely the same way as many newer forms of religions and I'm sure many practicioners of older eastern religions can agree. Research David Howell, recently announced by Briticanna man, as a native American champion. I literally saw his name among a few others in 1 new google AI mode search, and when I worded my question even a little differently, differentiating us from those out of the Ancient Hindustan River region, it switched up saying there are none really fast which is messed up too. We're all very much still here and or on our way back here in some way shape or form. Also, I was listening in on Doelow da Pilotman, a hugely talented & creative native indian spiritual Catawba YouTuber, and I learned from him, that Hopi is actually pronounced moreso in a way resounding of the original users spelling. Please, if you are not (or insure if you are) a native north American Indian, don't speak on us, our culture, where we were, or where we're at, if at all, today in the here and now, especially if it is used as a way of monetary gain. Indian Americans are a different thing entirely. In Spanish we are called indio americanos however the Grammar and structure of that Language are in many ways English's inverse, much like Cherokee is, etc. shout out the original poster, it's a great question. Honestly we don't know if there were or not any ancient chess champions from the old days anywhere 100-400 years ago those were after all extremely hard times and yet chess I find is often a game where throwing the first punch not keeping peace can get punished if not dealt with correctly of course there always comes a time when standing up is necessary.
