Grischuk's early draws while playing white in the recent candidates matches. A top ten player, that basically refused to play white! It was both silly, and it almost worked!

That's just it, Estragon, all grandmasters do it for the conservation of energy based on point standings and difficult matchups. Friends do it, siblings do it, team mates do it. Fischer is the only one to cry so much about it. Is it an American conspiracy that a grandmaster let Fischer take his place in the candidates tournament, even though Fischer didn't initially qualify? That's not considered bad here, in fact that player is admired for it.
