I don't think Windows_7- will take kindly to you posting pictures of him in this thread without his permission.

Grischuk's early draws while playing white in the recent candidates matches. A top ten player, that basically refused to play white! It was both silly, and it almost worked!Laughing

Korchnoi's yogurt complaint, and his playing chess with dead people, may put him in the running for silliest ever!

Hmmm, on chess.com or in real life? If on chess.com, I nominate Trysts, Conquistador, TheoreticalBoy, and Oinquarki

I wish I could compete in the real-life division along with you, but unfortunately all I can ever hope to amount to doing in my life is blackening the occasional pixel on jerry2468's monitor.Cry

Fischer again, for his silly crying about grandmaster draws being a Soviet conspiracy against him! I actually believed this one when I was told about it, that is, until I started paying attention to chess tournaments.

But I think what he actually said was the top Soviet GMs would draw each other while the other Soviets played all out against non-Soviet players, to gain an advantage in energy.  It was the "The Russians Have Fixed World Chess" article he wrote in the early '60s . . . That much was confirmed by several of the Soviets - it wasn't some prearrangement, it depended on the players and their relative position in the event, but it was a very common strategy for the Soviets in those years, even in "ordinary" GM tournaments.

Now, his saying all the Karpov-Korchnoi and Karpov-Kasparov games were prearranged is at least silly, if not downright insane.

That's just it, Estragon, all grandmasters do it for the conservation of energy based on point standings and difficult matchups. Friends do it, siblings do it, team mates do it. Fischer is the only one to cry so much about it. Is it an American conspiracy that a grandmaster let Fischer take his place in the candidates tournament, even though Fischer didn't initially qualify? That's not considered bad here, in fact that player is admired for it.
