Tournament Etiquette Question

Hello, 

First and foremost, I hope this is the correct section. Second, I am aware of the FIDE rule book, but this seemed to be more along the lines of being a prick, as opposed to actually breaking any official rule.

I would just like to get some opinions on this scenario. I have talked to a few 2k+ plus friends of mine regarding this since they have played in multiple tournaments, and they all seem to believe that both the my opponent and the TD behaived highly incorrectly an immature, so I would just like to get some more opinions.

I was playing an OTB open tournament at a local chess club, and I feel that I was wronged during said tournament. During my game, when I was in deep calculation in a very sharp position, the tournament director came up to me, interrupted my game, and started talking to me about some fee for the club that there was an error on. I already find this to be incorrect behavior since it took time off my clock, and the situation was no where near pressing. He overcharged me 5 dollars. I could understand interruption if my USCF membership was not up to date, but this trivial interruption shattered my concentration and caused me to blunder horridly by playing a line I had already thrown out. Needless to say, this blunder ultimetly cost me the game against some 1790 player that I was doing very well against. The player, after my resignation a few moves later, in the middle of some rhetrospective analysis with me, started talking to another player right in front of me, and the two of them were passively making fun of me for the blunder and resigning after around 25 moves. 

Am I overreacting to be extremely irritated, or does this crap happen often? This was only my second OTB tournament.
