Big deal or not? How difficult would this be??? Check it out here: http://main.uschess.org/content/view/10700/319/

You can check out what our opinions were in the "On Demand" section of our broadcast in Chess/TV today -- and you can let us know your opinions here!!!

It would certainly be difficult just maintaining your concentration for 18 hours.

I wonder if there is any restriction on who can enter.  If most of his opponents are mid-to-high strength club players he'd certainly have to focus well to achieve an 80% win rate.

Each time he returns to a board he'll probably have completely forgotten that game and have to analyse from scatch all over again.

Try it, and see.

I don't believe there are any restrictions in regards to the strengths of his opponents. I don't think a bunch of titled players are going to show up for this thing, but you never know right???

Should we start a worldwide conspiracy to prevent the world record from coming back to the states? :)

The main difficulties are listed in the article.  An 18 hour exhibition assumes an average of 3.7 seconds thinking time (or less considering you have to wait to see their move) for a 500 board exhibition where games last only 35 moves.

I'm pretty sure 500+ board will take longer than 18 hours.

I guess you have patzers who lose before move 20, but are they told to resign?  If they play on it would make it much harder.

He looks like he's in shape, but this would still be very difficult.
