Sign the petition to get the US Chess Team into the White House

It is an honor and tradition for US teams winning a championship to be invited.

Why waste your time Meeting Oh-bomba?
why not meet with the real president Trump after he assumes office?
I am sure that the team would be happy to be invited by either of them.

Lol. Is this some kind of joke?
Who wants to hang out with the president? Be a real anti-government dude and tell him to go to hell.

Lol. I want to be part of the family, let me get blocked by the deranged man.

^ Ok, seriously... thanks to you, I'll just have to hope I'm "in before the lock" now :(
And btw this is coming from somebody who agrees with most (albeit not all) of what you said, and who is neither a moderator nor a fan of overly zealous moderators.

if it promotes chess , a game enjoyed by those from all of the political spectrum , then great i hope it happens

I am just saying, I would rather meet with a business entrepreneur, a person who has worked in the private sector and understands getting the job done within a budget, than meet with a casper milquetoast politician that just wants to water down our national soverignty, deny our right and our responsibility as a world super-power, who wants to solve everything with a bloated lazy entitled workforce that is supported by tax payer dollars (i.e. governmental workers) that don't have or give a freakin' clue about real work or making a difference, or working hard, or being visionary, or anything else. A president who will probably go down as one of the worst five in all of U.S. History. A president who nearly doubled the national debt under his watch, meaning he accumulated nearly as much debt for the USA as ALL the presidents in history preceding him. Hillary would have been just more of the same and worse.
So I am just saying, why the hell waste your time meeting with him? why not wait to have a meaningful interaction with someone who knows how to get things done?
Heck, he might even be able to somehow figure out how to promote chess interests. Who knows?

I had always felt the US citizens were very good distinguishing between the man and the office of Chief Executive so they could respect the Presidency regardless of their personal feelings towards the holder of that office. The way this thread is going it looks like I was wrong. Whether it
is President Trump or President Obama, being invited to the White House would be a well-deserved honour and excellent publicity for the game of chess.

Republicans hate Democrats and the other way around. People in the US are really picky in regards of political parties. I have been in the US many times, and I have family on both ends of the spectrum, die hard Republicans and die hard Democrats, their opinion on "candidates" is purely based on the political party. That is my view based on what I have experienced.
You missed his point. Yes, there are very strong differences in opinion but both sides have always held the office of the Presidency with enough respect to treat whomever holds the office with a certain minimum level of respect.
The Gold Medal Team from the US should be honored by an invitation from either the sitting or future President.

Do other sport teams usually get invited to the White House? This a genuine question because I do not know the answer.
Sign the petition to get the US Chess Team into the White House to meet with President Obama. The US team won the Gold Medal in the recently completed Chess Olympiad.
Only 99, 991 signatures to go.
