wanmokewan - and what are you doing here, i want to play chess, and have stated my reasons for being on the forum, rather than playing chess, what is your excuse to even be here, something constructive i do hope
unfair advantage given to gold and platinum members

spiritbro - and you are not moaning ? it looks very much to me that you are doing at least an equal amount of moaning. your motivation seems obscure to me though? My days are never going to be numbered, i could probably buy a chunk of chess.com if i wanted to. I certainly have more than a few choices you see. You are the one who has not thought this through, fair enough if you want folk like me who play thousands of games on chess.com to 'jolly well bugger off' which by the way is quite rude - But how exactly does that benifit you, you are called spiritbro, but your spirit can't even see the advantage of transparency and common sense. Meaning that the next bottle of dettol I see will get thrown in the bin, you have paid for that dettol advert to be thrust upon me, how does that benifit you, or dettol, or chess.com, who want me to pay for membership, but i will not belong to a club which has such a lame and idiotic policy concerning advertising, and one that is intrinsically disrespectful to a game played for thousands of years. I can just imagine you would probably love to play Confucious, while his ears are twisted by adverts for detoll. Which is why i will continue to carp and play here in-between playing on other sites, like in the wee hours when the adverts seemingly are turned off. Oh hang on, what a fool i've been, yea I'll just get addblock, and you can get a new spirit bro - snores out loud - zzzol

Looking back through the thread, I see some suggestions. Baddogno did link the Erik's post about earning membership by reporting ads that aurally assault you. You chose to ignore it and continue whining. This place is a business; they need to make money.
People who choose to be non paying members are accepting what that entails.
If a player doesn't object to adverts per se, but merely the noise from them... mute button?

Why don't you just admit you're a cheap bastard looking for a reason not to get a $25 membership to support a site you've seen fit to play 1000's of games on.

i could probably buy a chunk of chess.com if i wanted to.
No need. Just buy a gold membership.
I agree they shouldn't affect games though.

OP,
This is your seventh post on such matters in 2 months. If the issue bothers you that much then you really should pay for membership.

Omg so awesome.
marry me??
Seriously burned so hard though, that's exactly what It is.
Act so high and mighty. And if you truly have the financial Capabilities you claim to have, why the hell can't you afford a membership?
Even working part time at minimum wage it's not really anything to save up for.

what absolute ignorance is being manifested on this forum, and very offensive too, we all know what the word bastard means, what right has anyone to call me a cheap bastard, I note nobody in the chess.com community sees fit to comment on that real abuse, as opposed to my honest opinion. In my city, there are many clubs full of roughnecks looking to insult and fight, obviously I do not frequent them. But the fact remains that my simple point is, that i do not think that aural only adverts on a chess site, is the way to be going, I sign on to many sites, including twitter, youtube, facebook etc, and they are happy to create revenue stream from adverts that are appropiate - anyway what is wrong with me having this opinion ? I have raised it more than once, more through disappointment, that all of you posting here seem to think that this one limited way of doing advertising, which I personally do not think appropriate, is something to defend as though i was attacking an individual or vulnerable person, i still cant believe that out of all of you, nobody thinks it would be a good thing to take chess.com up on there own suggestion that the present system could be fairly easily changed, i cant understand what you like about it so much, considering that you yourselves are not suffering from it. I wonder if you realise how many of the players on chess.com are none members, I would hazard that chess.com would not want to lose there none membership players, for two reasons, firstly the overall numbers visiting a site are an asset, when talking to the bank, etc - secondly, every one of them is looking at adverts which create revenue stream, and until the time of my first post about this, this was the accepted way of advertising on this site, by looking - they seemed to be doing okay up until that point. As for the member 'snickering' at my alleged limited choices, what is he going to do when chess.com decide that paying nenbers must also have a little advertising, his natural allies will according to his desires, have already 'jolly well buggered off' anyway without the 10,000, none paying members, rest assured your fees will go up. Me join a community where one is insulted for having a valid opinion, i think not - but i will possibly give a ten dollar cheque to a valid charity, to prove that this is nothing whatsoever to do with being a cheapskate.

You're looking at this all the wrong way OP. This isn't so much an annoyance, but an opportunity; an opportunity for you to get your own free diamond membership!

you know very well that one cannot take a screen shot of a sound - so why pretend
True, but simply sending in a screenshot with your personal annotation that it made noises in the background will purge it from this site (hopefully!). You have nothing to lose if doing so, right?

$10 isn't enough to prove it, since gold membership is $29.
But if you could buy the site, why not make it $290?

balente eh - yea well, I think pretty much the same about you - in fact you said it, blah blah crap crap, that's the words that came out of you, each one describing your own bowel like brain movement - what I don't understand is why you even read forum posts, i only read my own, which I write because i have something to say - you are only reacting to what i wrote, that's cool with me, you are a reactionary, it's that obvious, why don't you start your own crap game
To some people, the forums are only a place to moan and whine.
