using stockfish 12

greetings can anyone answers my question pls.. I'm using stockfish 12 as chess engine now my question is that. Can I dictate the engine what kind of opening we should use? because I'm studying and opening so I want to play it often any options for this? thanks

That would be a function of the GUI (Graphical User Interface) that you're using. (For example, Fritz, Arena, Scid, etc.)

OK, with Arena, I think you'll have to create a new, empty Arena opening book (it will have an .abk file extension). Then, you'll have to add the specific opening line (or lines) to that new book. There are two ways to do that. Either:

1) Create a pgn file with that specific line (or lines) you want the engine to play, then import the pgn file into the new book.

or,

2) Put Arena into "edit" mode, then put the specific opening line on the board (making the moves for both sides). Then, in the "Book" menu, you'll need to "Add Line to Book".

Once you have the new book created with that one line, then just set up the engine to use that new book.

And that's it, I think.
