Using vacation time when you are losing!

I am posting this under general discussion becauase I am new to Chess.com but have played chess most of my life!  Being new to online chess I am wondering about the typical use of the vacation mode!  My ranking is low because I am still in the first 4 games!  3 of my games I chose opponents with equivalent rankings as I.  However one game I chose a player with a ranking of 1700 which is twice my ranking.   I have apparently stumped this player and now he has stopped his clock count down by going into vacation mode!  I did send a message for which I am getting no response!  Is this legal?  I am quite amazed!  Does vacation mode mean that my opponent is blocking all games?  Or just me!

Let him deal with shock. You aren't limited to one game at the time, and you may need to know that vacation is putting all games on hold, except games with "no vacation" flag.

LOL you're completely lost in that position that you "stumped" him in.

In all likelihood, the 1700 probably is going on a real vacation, or just has no time to make moves for now. But that game is over wink.png

And vacation time means that your opponent is blocking all games. Trust me, your game against him has 0 influence on whether or not he decides to use vacation time.

I do not think discussing current game to this level is fine.

 You? Again?

Just play only no vacation games, and stop these senseless tirades.

Or maybe you can actually play more games at the same time, so you won't worry about ONE game in particular going longer.

What is the big deal if this game ends today or in a month?

I just find it silly that a new player is complaining about a person using vacation time because they're losing when in reality it's the guy posting that has a clearly losing position! (And yeah, it's OK to talk about these games as long as we're not giving specific examples. Even a 500 rated player would know who's winning)

Had to edit first post after seeing the game, it took me few moment to figure out who is playing which side. I'd rather prefer to discourage any form of talking about current game, since it may be indirect attempt to get help.

You right that this one is hilarious, and refusing him sudden disappointment of losing in few weeks is cruel. Kind of spoiler.

Heheh! Thanks for the responses!  So it is legal and seems to be typically done.  And no, I am not secretly trying to get help!  As far as who will win!  My opponent is much more accomplished, so I expect I will probably loose!  But at my stage of play I play to learn!  Win or lose!  Preciate your comments!  Interesting and funny! . . . 🖖
