I recenty found a chess board like Ive never seen at an estate sale, I'd like to know it's origin and value?

first I need to know a few facts about the chess board...size, composition,age, colour(black&white or other) of the squares, hand carved or machine made, width of the border, any markings especially underneath, estate where acquired, amount you paid for the board, any pieces, finally the size of the squares is very important to evaluating the worth of the board. also did the sellers tell you any history of the board or any clues about it etc. when I know these facts or as best you can tell them then I can give you my definite considered opinion. it sounds like a very exciting acquisition.!

but I must warn you I am only an amateur, not a trained expert eye...but I have seen many episodes of 'Antiques Roadshow'...to be honet my guess will be as good as any other person who wants to have a good laugh!

of course if you dont have the original pieces that compliment the board then just by itself the board is worth nothing...unless of course it is jewel encrusted with ivory inlaid squares bordered with pure gold weighed down with a silver centre and inscribed personally by the Duke Of Pilsbury himself...then it may be worth a few hundred dollars...hope this message helps you understand

I've been playing for near 50 years, it just caught my eye as unique, I will take pic and provide dimensions, checked thousands on Ebay and nothing near it,  again, thank you  Kyle

sorry you feel that way, Ive never played on line, it was an ask.com thread that suggested chess board info can be obtained, obviously your view is that of one that holds ZERO (0) value, it's your kind that give chess a dim view by those who have a life, heres a pic of the board, smart-ass

Is their any one out there that may have a possible starting or reference point for someone to find out info and origin of a chess board. If si it is appreciated, I am not wanting nor trying to sell this board, only curious about it, Thanks, Kyle from Kansas U.S.A.
