Why is there no constant board design, in most cases you have "1" and "a" at bottom left. Other boards show "1" top left and "a" bottom right. Am I the only one puzzled by this ??
No puzzle really because a board is either displayed normally as if you were playing as White with a1 bottom left, or with the board 'flipped' (i.e. inverted) as if playing as Black with h8 at your bottom left.
It's a convention to display a board according to which player is to play next.
