He was glad about 9/11 but that was before the whole world(except the american people) started realising that it was a false flag attack with empty US military planes, painted to look like commercial planes, so the US could get a dominating foothold of military bases in the Iraqi area(which is exactly what has happened). I wonder if Fischer's contempt for the US government originates in the lack of support he may have received from his own government for his work on the front lines of battling the USSR on the chessboard. Someone says Fischer only takes takes takes? I think this is an example where he gave a lot (and potentially sacrificed his mental health).
Decades later he violated a UN embargo for playing chess in Yugoslavia. Sure he could have handled it differently, however, I would be very upset to be told how and when I could play chess if I devoted my life to it like Fischer. I expect the treatment by the US government towards him after that pushed him further away from reality.
Bobby was being spied on by the FBI And the KGB both according to Bobby would be under control of the Mossad
So because Bobby thought he was being spied on(which he was) and because he was anti Semitic he was crazy?
Who are you guys to say he didn't look at both sides of the story to make his decisions .. he had direct contact with many powerful people.. he had powerful agencies tracking his movement .. why I might ask? Why in America would a free man who hadn't broken any laws be followed by groups such as the FBI enough so to amass a 900 page record with them.
And then claim he is crazy because he thinks people are spying on him .. wake up people they were spying on him
Bobby Fischer was as crazy as a loon.
Why would the government think he was so dangerous.. why was he never allowed to do unscripted shows in America. The things he thought and said were obviously dangerous to somebody. Someone with that much respect saying things that didn't align with the ruling class.. It's too dangerous to hear someone opinions.

@lutak22 I think there are many forms of mental illness or social disorders. Others had commented on this prior to when he began raging against Jews, US and Israeli governments and the chess world. I don't know if he was ever diagnosed with any illnesses or disorders. Rather than using the term"crazy" it may be useful considering specific conditions and seeing if his behaviour meets the characteristics.
Who are you to say Bobby Fischer who obviously had an obsessive personality wouldn't research all sides of an issues .. he is a chess player probably one of the most obsessed of all time at that .. I'd put money down he did his fair share of research.
@berdelyi .. this would be the proper way to establishing what type/s of mental illnesses Bobby might have suffered from

@lutak22 Agreed. And I'm just an armchair critic with an advanced medical degree from Google. I hear this is touched on in Pawn Sacrifice so I'm looking to watch it soon.
I didn't enjoy pawn sacrifice much to be honest .. I enjoyed Bobby Fischer vs the world much more.
So. Fischer. Good chess player he was.

. Personally, I've always been intrigued by the Polgar's and even more so when that's where Fischer seemed to reappear.
I don't believe Fischer was crazy he was very justified in his believes that people were watching him acquaintances would end up being informants .. As for who he thought was running the FBI and KGB and the Mossad.. I'm very curious of the research he did to come to this conclusion. Mind you this is one of the great minds of our time.
Fischer was a chess genius. He could combine the chaos on the board and make coherent and correct decisions. And here we are questioning his judgement on the chaos in the world.
