WCC predictions

I think pragg will win the Candidates to challenge Gukesh in the WCC. It's going to be insane, two Indian prodigies playing against each other. Reasoning: Pragg is 4th in the world in fide. Fabiano, Hikaru, and Magnus are 3rd, 2nd, and 1st. But hikaru and fabiano have never won candidates, and Magnus isn't playing I'm pretty sure. Also pragg beat gukesh in the tata steel so he's really good. Anyways I think pragg and gukesh will tie a bunch a games but I think ultimately gukesh will win.

Also is this topic supposed go under general Chess discussion or Chess players or something else?

He did indeed get to challenge Magnus in 2018, and he actually held his own pretty well; all twelve of the initial games ended in a draw. Then the tiebreaker games were played, and he lost all three of them.

Idk somebody that is not hikaru, because he does not take classical chess seriously. He takes streaming more seriously.

Hi

Pragg is easily making the candidates and has been on a hot streak as of lately- have you seen the FIDE circuit standings!? But winning the candidates is a whole other task. And don’t forget that the next candidates tournament won’t be in 2025, but 2026, giving a long time for other players to find their rhythm and pragg lose his.

Ultimately, I think pragg will qualify, but in big moments I give my trust more to a player like Erigaisi or Caruana, but with the recent candidates, maybe a little bit of a surprise- perhaps Nordibek (not even trying to spell the last name), Nepo (good candidates record, not playing the best chess right now but that’s what they said about Liren), Giri, or So.

Personally, I think the next world champion will be Firouzja, but that’s just my opinion. I do think that Gukesh will not remain world champion, and honestly we just need somebody who can become world champion and stay world champion- but there are so many people at the top so close to each other it’s unlikely that will happen.

ChanMan4

The candidates are in 2026? Also didn't Wesley So just get absolutely demolished by Gukesh? Firouzja is a valid choice Ig. I don't follow that much top Chess, but weren't his performances in the last few top tourneys not very good?
