What an attack! Beating a 2000 with complications…

I’m a big fan of this game because it’s heavily imperfect. Not only did I get off to a poor start losing a pawn to a cheap tactic, I also later missed a much easier win!

But the attack was complicated, messy, and a bit brutal, and I couldn’t help but share it. Let me know what you think?

I’m a huge fan of c3, I think the quiet pawn move while two pieces can be captured is just really refined.

Indeed - I was asking WHA??? There are several places which makes little sense to me - from both of you. It is obvious that you've both played (over?) 10,000 games each. Did you say game length? Rapid-10?

Well, every-other word out of my mouth throughout ... and still ... is WHY? Lots to play with here. I'm also intrigued with Stockfish's (?) symbols (not sure what they're called) ... there sure was a lot of orange ??!!?? type flashes throughout. Quite a colorful display! I'll be keeping this one to wake me up instead of coffee. ;-)

ADDED: Also, I know what the symbols mean - I just meant there were alot of them. After awhile whether it's bright orange or mid orange makes no difference.

Hey Adam, wanna know what would rock my world? If you annotated this file with your thinking, their thinking (that you think they're thinking) and your plans as you worked through this. That would be an incredible teaching tool for someone like me who needs extra help, LOL. Anyway, no pressure - just a consideration for future.

In meantime, I plan to do just that and it will be a joke from advanced-player perspective, but I want to really understand under the hood on this one.

Move 20. ambush! I like this game--messy and brutal. The two of you were really going at it with clubs and rocks. Nice recovery and win. o7

Haha messy and brutal sounds about right… proper brawl. Glad you enjoyed it, even if Stockfish isn’t impressed. That’s often the way with complicated games, though… the more tension in a position, the more mistakes are on the board, waiting to be made!

I care only about Stockfish insofar as it helps as a learning tool. Stockfish doesn't  experience chess, people do.

The only moves that made me facepalm were Qh4 and Nc4

So nice to see you - that's what I imagined too, warriors with club in one handle and sword in the other, chains hanging off their chests! hahaha!

Qh4 was awful, yeah - I hadn’t played in a day or so and wasn’t at all switched on at the start. I started thinking better after I blundered, which is often the way. 
Nc4 made some semblance of sense, I thought; either he underestimated my attack and thought that I’d have too many pieces hanging hence attacking the bishop made sense, or he missed it entirely and just wanted his knight on a less awful square with a tempo… like it’s a bad move but it does make some sense

Idk Nc4 offended me on a spiritual level. He really saw Kg1 and just thought you were shuffling your king for no reason lol. And there's a discovery check as well. Kg8 is so natural
