Books that contain complete games annotated by strong GM himself such as Fischer’s My 60 Memorable Games, etc. Or books of annotated Tournament games such as Zurich 1953 by David Bronstein, etc. come to mind.

Yes. A real classic.

Tal's book on his first match with Botvinnik.

My System by Nimzovich.

People will tell you to buy books by Jeremy Silman. Don't. His books stink.

The books by Jeremy Silman are for more advanced players. He was a long-time popular writer of many articles and lessons here on Chess.com.

Sadly, he passed away last year.

How to Win at Chess by Levy Rozman (it's a book that goes through different openings, tactics, and strategies, plus you have QR codes that you can scan and do different puzzles on your phone or laptop, from 0 - 1200 chess.com elo)

How to Beat Your Dad at Chess by Murray Chandler (i heard many good things about this book, it teaches you checkmating ideas, has helpful explanations and just overall helps your tactical vision)

Play Winning Chess by Yasser Seirawan (it teaches you the basics of various tactics and strategies and so many more things like pawn structure, space. gives you clear examples from real games, and overall helps you to become a greater player)

Lots of classics to name. Find them yourself

Zurich is only if you need to play the kid. Otherwise skip it. Kmoch is krazy. Skip that too. Nimzowich has been updated so get the new version with the extended situations. The best book is Tal Life and Games and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.

Two of the best chess books ever written.

Kmoch is crazy, agreed. Read it.

The series of several Microsoft Press books many years ago by GM Seirawan. It is not deep at all. But is concise abt what really matters. I think they are good for newer players. And as a remedial thing for bullet addicts whove lost the objective of chess.
