I would say find something that interests you and pursue it other than chess. I am pretty sure that even grandmasters do not just sit in there house 24/7 with chess.

Sanctified Fecal Matter!! I thought there was sumpin' not quite right with this guy, but that friend's list exceeds my expectations.
I go to auctions and buy furniture, ceramics and paintings as a bit of a hobby. I like second hand shops and second hand books. I work full time. I am a teacher. We run an equestrian centre - we have 20 + horses at livery at ours. We make hay. We have properties rented out. Chess is just something I spend time doing - I've just started playing - it really suits me - I love chess.com - I can play when I want - with whom I want. I'm just average IQ I guess - but it takes my mind off things and when I can't sleep it is 'open all hours'.
Whatever I thought about my IQ has taken a hit as the deer outsmart me day after day while I’m carrying a rifle in the woods. Even the turkeys seem to know when I’m carrying a shotgun, as they only show themselves when I am not.
