To judge from this site, people with very high IQs mostly sit around telling others how very high their IQs are.
About that.
Those are mostly people whose IQs are believed high because of an online quiz, often a quiz put up by a phishing site.

A study was recently conducted where a random group of people were asked one question. Is your IQ above average or below average? 96% said above average and 4% said below average. Does this mean that 46% are liars?
Not liars, deluded. And not 46%, but a full 50%. I bet the 4% of people who had the self-awareness to admit they may be below average are actually above average.

I collect rocks... including meteorites and tektites.
Rock collecting was a hobby I gave up to make room for other hobbies. I still have a small collection packed away. Nothing outstanding but pretty rocks nonetheless. Unfortunately, the Twin Tiers area of NY/PA is almost completely shale, slate, and limestone. Nothing pretty like western rocks although we do have a few geodes and Herkimer Diamonds nearby.
Not very high IQ to be honest, infact I would dare to say below average, just dedicated. The subject I am passionate about is Chemistry. I take a lot of joy out of being able to manipulate the very things that build our life. I spend time on random jokes that aren't that funny to most people, that's why my username is... adventurous. I spend time reading quite a bit mainly because it's just better for you than video games the majority of people do. Chess is primarily just a positive time filler when I don't quite have enough time to read those chapters but I do have enough time for a few blitz games.

No, it means that 46% are deluded by their overconfidence.
Intelligence is one facet of the human condition. Morality is another. And they don't necessarily go hand in hand. Ted Kaczynski has an IQ of over 160, and his 'hobby' was mailing bombs to people.
Are you aware of what the government did to that poor man when he was young? I had no idea until I learned about it.
If you are referring to the trauma of his childhood hospitalization, the notion expressed as "what the government did" must be recognized for what it is: right-wing horse manure a la Alex Jones.

No, I'm referring to when he was a young man, highly intelligent, and the CIA fed him acid and degraded him in the worst imaginable ways to see what would happen in the name of "experimentation". He was an adult. He was contacted through Harvard. They broke him and thus created the Unabomber. A simple Google search will give you multiple results from legitimate sources (e.g. psychology magazines, history channel, etc.) but honestly, you are better off not knowing what they dd to him, it is utterly disgusting. I agree that this *sounds* like a crazy conspiracy theory but it is a well established fact, you will find a ton of info about it from many legitimate sources, and it is not disputed by anyone (as far as I know). I am not into conspiracies in the slightest, but a friend of mine told me about Ted Kacyzinski's horrible past because for some reason it isn't really mainstream information. I did not know about the childhood thing either, so thanks for sharing.

Wow, western rocks are pretty? Have you ever been to Nevada?
Nope, never been to Nevada. I've got some nice blue and brown jasper from Biggs Canyon, Oregon and a couple fistfuls of various agates and other stuff from Montana and Utah. This area was the bottom of an ocean and formed dull sedimentary rocks, not the good stuff from near the big mountain ranges.
Honestly, I am very disappointed by this site. I expected a lot more thoughtful comments. It just seems like most people who play chess barely makes end meet! Prove me wrong if that is not the case. How do you guys make money? Any profitable hobby? I've heard Kasparov collects stamps but I don't know whether that is really a profitable hobby. Still waiting for serious responses.
Hobbies are not profitable! The only "profitable" hobby I attend is string quartets (where I'm the First Violin ), which spends my time for something I can "earn" for free: friends.

My thinking is that you should ask your question on Quora, and there you will find the most intellectual answers. My hobby is finding lost items and the hobby of someone with high IQ is to hire someone else to find them so they don't have to.

Thanks. The specifics help. I still wouldn't use the phrase "the government" to describe the experiments conducted at Harvard. It was the work of a professor at a private university with a lot of help and money from the CIA.
There was a lot of talk in graduate school in the late 1980s about these experiments before we knew anything about Ted Kaczynski because a lot of people were reading the book Acid Dreams: https://groveatlantic.com/book/acid-dreams/. Your link provides a good reference to his role.
Can you share what your hobbies are? Also, do you know what the hobbies of the smartest people are? Finally, what is a great hobby to make good money? I have heard that chess tournaments don't pay much, so I was wondering how you guys pay your bills with your brain folds.
I want to hear SERIOUS answers, so please don't troll my topic. The admin can delete the same topic I posted in "Off-topic" by accident. Thanks!
You should do what you enjoy rather than what earns a lot of money. A few people have said that if you do what you enjoy you never have to work a day in your life. I've found this to be true. To try and get a load of money doing what you hate is not worth it.
Actually, I think trolling should be encouraged here.
You are a stable genius
and a troll.
Floating around does nothing for your iq
blasphemy! you, sir, are obviously nowhere near mensa material!
Uh,... Ok. Agree to disagree
