For me there are "good" and "bad" losses - I don't feel bad about a "good" loss when I gave my best, made the best moves I could come up with and my opponent was just stronger and made better moves. On the other side, I could kick myself for losing on a blunder.
What do you think about after you lose?

brain damage or something even worse
Like a strained drinking arm?
* Shudder *
Brain damage isn't so bad. Something worse isn't even that bad. A strained drinking arm is too terrible to even comtemplate.

I'll tell you what losing really feels like. It feels as if someone just sat on your bag of potato chips.

why did it happen
why do i not look properly
why am i rubbish
why did i just blunder that game away
well least i learned something there
well played
one day i won't lose so much
try harder

I think about the next game and how not to make the same mistake I just made to lose the game I just played.

First thing that goes through my mind might be; crap how did i lose this position? Ok must look at this and remember the vital point where i let is slip away. Ok i think i worked out where it was going wrong. Ok next game, cant let a loss worry me to much, its just a game when it all comes down to it.
If I'm really annoyed with it, i play the game over many times and take notes to make sure i NEVER make that kind of mistake again.
When I'm on a losing streak i tend to start playing lower players until my form improves, because when u r on a bad run even lower players are giving u heeps of trouble.
Kinda the same way I deal with it. I definately try find out where I lost it; usually I'll seek a friends to look at it with me; they have no problem pointing out how I lost my "won" game.

I think mmmm what will fritz 12 tell me in verbatum analysis mode,something like "simplymarching passed the door to victory" or "!?" usually . But I learn more than when I win so feel I am moving up.

One can profit more from a single loss than a hundred wins."
- Jose Raul Capablanca
I keep reminding myself of such quotes, but sometimes it takes a while to soak in after a losing a game I thought I should have won easily.
It's ironic because Capablanca never loses.

I usually just keep thinking about the same stuff I was thinking during the game;
na-na-na-na-doo-doo-doo-na-na

How could I have lost this won game?.... really I have a terrible syndrome... I always start Ok, put preassure, gain an advantage, won position and then.... a series of innacuracies and blunders and the game is over... :-(

I really don't mind losing to a better player. It's an incentive to improve.
That's the spirit!!

Stop playing so fast dangit ! You said you would take your time, you play a 40 minute game and finish after 5 minutes......dang dang dang....Slow downnnnnnnn,sheeesh. Ok let's analse the game and see what I did wrong. Oh my god! I missed a mate on move 20 and the game went on for another 50 only to lose. Man., SLOW DOWN AND THINK before moving...ok ok...next game I will purposely take my time and think things through.....ya right :)

If I lose because I blundered, I think I'm a complete idiot and wonder why I play the game. If I lose because my opponent has simply outplayed me or made some amazing combination, I admire their skill and thank them for the game.
